Juice of the Week! Featuring Watercress!

Welcome to the first week of the challenge!   ” JUICE OF THE WEEK

” Kabonnagreen Watercress-fest!  ( watercress makes me feel the bess..t) ”

Kabonnagreen Watercress-fest!  ( watercress makes me feel the bess..t

1 Golden Delicious Apple

1 Braeburn Apple

1 watercress plant ( green leafs and stems.. no roots)

4 Baby Carrots

1 Whole organic lime ( peel and all)

My highlighted ingredient for this week is watercress!

Here is a blog i wrote before to tell you way watercress rocks!

Pregnancy and watercress!

1.  The stress warrior –

Oxidative stress is the scientific way to explain how many damaging free radicals are in created in our bodies, causing damage to cells and organs.   Awesome all the vitamins found in watercress, battle against these so they cannot cause damage.   Yes!   Which is awesome for those who are preggers.  Because a woman’s body is going through a lot of changes and stress which raise the oxidative stress levels.   So lucky to combat this you have your watercress shield!!  Yahoo!!!

2. Beautiful Healthy Eyes!

I am in my 2nd trimester and baby is starting develop their beautiful eyes.   watercress helps develop healthy eyes and killer night vision.   Also this not only goes for baby but for me too, yay!  I can leave my night goggles at home.. boo ya!

3.  More Energy and mood elevators

B vitamins found in watercress are most famous for their role in energy production and helping you feel ohh so good! Which pregnant or not everyone needs more energy and be in a great mood.. 🙂

Juice of the Week! Start your engines!!

READY !  SET !  JUICE IT !

So going into my 2nd trimester i want to set some goals to  have a happy pregnancy for myself and the next Kabonnagreen team member.  In the past I have been a pretty awesome juicer person and love a  big glass of green………….

However i must say since going through 3 months of non-stop morning (all day) sickness.   I was not able to even think or look at a glass of fresh made veggie/fruit juice.   So i fell off the wagon big time.

But now that i am feeling good again its time to restart my juicer engine.. rooommm roommm !

Now normally i would be like okay going to juice everyday let’s go.    But i have a lot of habits i want to reconnect with so  i will start by doing juicing one day a week, then stepping it up more and more till i am back to juicing daily.

And for that i present the challenge to all you people with juicers out there to join me in!!!! Drum Roll please..

JUICE OF THE WEEK!!!!

Take a picture of your lovely juice you made  ( i encourage green ones of course : ).    And post it Starting Next week till the end of Feb.  Feel free to put a link in the comments and we can inspire each other!

I will be posting each week my “juice of the week” starting next week Jan22- Feb. 27th.   That is 6 weeks of jucing.   With a featured juice drink each week.  Should be fun!  And a great way to start off the new year!

Like i said if you want to join me.   I will happily add your blog link or picture link to my next blog too!

Cheers!  Start your engines ladies and gentlemen!!!

Wheatgrass Report!

So back in August.  I got back on the wheatgrass wagon.  Instead of doing a 2 week study as previous.   I decided to do 90 day challenge.

So Nov. 6th came and went and no report whats the deal right?    Sorry.   I was really excited to report but i had to delay because

of Kabonnagreen+.   I will explain in this blog.

So if you are not familiar with my challenge check it out here.   90 days of wheatgrass everyday to see the results!

Results!

1.   Very nice skin.  I usually have pretty clear skin but i experienced an improvement in having more even skin tone.   I am a red-head so my skin can get rosy and not be even.  I still had plenty of color to my face but more even and well-balanced.    And i have i think my skin looks like pretty good for 30-year-old status.  🙂  Wheatgrass helps prevent wrinkles and fine lines.   Keep the skin young!

2.  Awesome Immune System. This one was the best!  I have not gotten sick once!   That is right i normally always get sick every October.  This is the first year i have not gotten a cold.    The only thing i have done different is taken wheatgrass daily.   So this one is huge.  It has really helped my immune system!

3.  Kabonnagreen+ Okay this one was not intended exactly.  But i did get pregnant while on the juice!   Not giving it all the credit but kinda curious if it did help in the matter.   Wheatgrass has been known to restore and boost fertility in animals.. so why not humans too right. Anywho yeah just a thought.

I wanted to share my results sooner.  But i was had such bad morning sickness ( all day sickness).  That my post would of not made sense for my friends who read my blog.  They would have been like what are you talking you have been sick for weeks?  Also interesting note on this.   I still was able to drink my wheatgrass even through my nausea that did not make me lose it.   So the power of wheatgrass continued through thick and thin.

The furture of Kabonnagreen and Wheatgrass

I look forward to continuing my wheatgrass consumption.   Staying looking good and healthy are high on my list.  Plus now that i am Kabonnagreen+ what a better gift for my little (+) then a daily dose of wheatgrass.   Happy to start my little (+) out from day one with wheatgrass.

Crazy to think that its possible my kid could be a great experiment for wheatgrass.   I hope  by consuming wheat grass during pregnancy, and then breast-feeding that my baby will develop a love and taste for the greens!  We shall see.  The experiment continues :).

Kabonnagreen+ on turning green..

1st Trimester.

It was exciting to find out I was becoming Kabonnagreen +.  But i was not at all prepared for nausea and body fatigue that hit me like of wave of green paint.

True to my name.. i was Green very green…Kabonnagreen.   But not in a good way.   Not to scare others, because some ladies get no sort of morning sickness.. or rather all day sickness.  And to those who don’t experience this.   I say.   LUCKY PANTS!

I was desperately searching online for answers to help cure me or at least help me cope.   Because all of my instincts were off.  Because normally if i feel sick to my stomach (green).  I would just not eat anything.   Let my digestion system rest so my body can heal its self.

In 1st trimester.  Not eating when your nausea actually makes it worst.  I know what, what?  ITs like you’re in backwards land.  Your not sick ,your growing a human.  OH yeah.. so a different approach is needed.

Also if your really into eating healthy or just starting out eating healthy dont’ freak out in first trimester.

( i did a little)  Because i could not eat any of the foods i loved.   Wonderful veggies and greens would make me soo soo sick.   Suddenly the only foods i could keep down seemed so nutritionally inferior to my normal diet.

But i am in second trimester now and green food sounds good.  So yay.  Hang in there.  Give yourself a break in 2nd, 3rd trimester you can go back to being a nutritional diva.   But till then here is some actual useful advice i think instead of someone telling you to eat a freakin cracker.   Enjoy!

Kabonnagreen steps Surviving the GREEN stage ( a.k.a 1st trimester) ! ( lasted for me between weeks 5-12)

*  Don’t allow yourself to get hungry.  Eating more helps prevent Nausea.  I know sounds weird but if you are not feeling Nausea a good way to stay that way is to start snacking.  Not eating larger meals or overeating rather just smaller, more frequent meals or snacks.

*  To help with nausea and fatigue add more Vitamin B6 ( 25mg-75mg) you can take a supplement.  Or if you rather get it from your foods try these foods if you can keep them down if not just take the supplement.  Paprika, red bell peppers, basil and leaks.

*  When eating meals don’t drink fluids

*  Have a snack ready by your bed when you wake up.    So you eat before you stand up, this can help stop nausea before it starts

*  Avoid fatty, greasy, hard to digest foods i.e.   ( meat and dairy)

*  Buy a pair of seabands:   you can get them at your average drug store ( while they did not cure my nausea but they did help me cope)

* Drink a cup of Mint Tea or Ginger Tea

*  If you need a nap dont’ fight it take one your body is working hard

Here are some of the foods that will support the growth of your baby and be easy on your stomach.  There is no need to be stuck with a diet of crackers and crappy sugary ginger ale.    The foods below support fetal growth and development and aren’t hard to keep down.

1.  Almonds

2.  Applesauce

3.  Bananas

4.  Brown Rice

5.  Chives

6.  Ginger

7. Lemons ( smelling a lemon can even help, if eating it is out of the question)

8.  Leeks,

9.  Oatmeal

10. Peanut butter

11.  pinto beans,

12.  popcorn ( not that crap from the bag, buy some real organic popcorn and make it on the stove or throw it in a brown paper bag and throw it in the microwave then add your own butter and salt, video link how to make healthy popcorn!)

13.  Sweet potatoes

14.  Tahni ( great in humus or on top of toast!)

15.  Watermelon ( boo it wasn’t in season when i was sick)

15.  Baked potato

16.  Whole Grain Breads

Also a little advice.  Do something nice for yourself un food related.   For instance if you enjoy a certain tv show.   Set up camp and watch a little marathon of it.  Do something that is easy relaxing and makes you happy.

For me it was re-watching the tv series Breaking Bad on Netflix streaming and taking many hot bath in the tub with bath salts.

Find your happy place……

Kabonnagreen +

I have been on a new journey here for the past months and I have really wanted to update my blog.  But wasn’t ready to go public with my news yet.  But now that i am in my second trimester I am ready to let the cat out of the bag!  I find it funny to call myself pregnant i prefer the + because it is me plus a little extra special something :).

I am  4 months Kabonnagreen + !  Here is a look at baby at 11 weeks.   Like mama, baby is dancin away.    This picture was fun we got it when baby was doin a little dance of crossing and uncrossing his/or  her foot.

I am currently at 15 weeks.   I have to say i have a lot of homework to do!  But i am excited to reasearch the best foods to eat for each trimester.  What stretches and exercises i can be doing daily to help prepare my body and mind for whatever birth i end up having.

But don’t worry my peeps my blogs won’t only be about pregnancy for those looking for new health tips ect.     Actually the research and things i am finding out hugely benefit everyone!!. so win win!
